Demographics is a long ignored force in the course of events, and these examples demonstrate some of those effects.
Also, it is illuminating to see the social effects of the exponential nature of technological advance. I once wrote that when the first hominid intentionally shaped a stone for a specific task, Neil Armstrong’s stroll on the Moon was ordained. What is ordained (a couple of millions years hence) by digital electronics?
