FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The Sunnyside High School Orchestra Presents Boots and Bows/Spurs and Strings Dessert Concert on Friday, April 24, 2008
Sunnyside – The Sunnyside High School Orchestra will present its first annual dessert concert, Boots and Bows/Spurs and Strings, on Friday, April 24th at 6:00 pm at First United Methodist Church (906 E. Edison). The SHS Orchestra will perform various popular country, bluegrass, Irish, and old time fiddle music.
The concert will also feature Acoustic Power Duo, Isaac Callender and Emily Muller Callender from Pendleton, Oregon. Mr. Callender has been playing violin since the age of three, and concentrating on fiddle music since age seven winning numerous awards, toured internationally, and have performed with Dixie Chicks, Clint Black, Chris Ledoux, and on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion”. He currently works as a luthier at his shop in Pendleton. Mrs. Mueller Callender began studying music when she was four years old. She has trained extensively earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Vocal Performance while continuing study in piano, violin, and viola. Currently, she is the Orchestra Director for the Pendleton School District. Together, they have traveled across the United States with their band Blue Pass, Montana’s newest bluegrass all-star band, and are very large advocates of music education in the schools. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and all the proceeds go to the Sunnyside High School Orchestra.
